Floor Soft Spot at 6 Months

📄 A CrappyRV Daily Drop · Wednesday, July 15, 2026 · Download the one-page PDF ↓

Soft spot. Six months in. Submission from a viewer in Florida — her brand new rig already has a spongy floor section near the slide-out. Watch.

Floor delamination happens when water gets between the floor's plywood substrate and the finish layer. Slowly destroys the bond. Walks like a trampoline.

Source — almost always a slide-out seal failure. Water drips in during a rain, finds the lowest point — the floor — and pools under the finish layer.

Catch it early — the floor can be saved. Catch it late — full subfloor replacement, which is a $4,000–$8,000 shop job. Inspect monthly. Step on every quadrant of the rig. Any flex, any sponginess, find the source.
