Lithium Battery Upgrade — Real Cost-Benefit
Lithium upgrade — costs three times more, lasts six times longer. Math says yes. Reality says — read the rest of this video first.
Lead-acid 100ah — about a hundred dollars. Lithium 100ah — three to five hundred. Lithium gives you a hundred-percent depth of discharge versus fifty percent on lead-acid. Effectively double the usable capacity per amp-hour.
But — the upgrade isn't just swapping batteries. Your converter needs to be lithium-compatible. Most RV converters are not. They charge lithium wrong, undercharge, kill the battery.
Lithium needs a lithium-profile converter. Three to five hundred more. Plus a battery monitor — another hundred fifty. Plus possibly a low-temperature charging protection if you camp in winter — fifty bucks.
Real cost of a 'lithium upgrade' done right — eight hundred to twelve hundred dollars for a 100ah single battery. Versus a hundred for lead-acid. The math works long-term — but only if you do it right.
Comment if you upgraded and your converter wasn't lithium-rated. The number of dead batteries from that mistake is staggering.
