Built-in-America — Who Actually Is?
Fourth of July. Every RV manufacturer's website says 'proudly American-made.' Let's check the receipts.
Assembled in America — true for most. Goshen, Indiana, is the RV capital. Final assembly is American. That's the easy part.
But — the appliances. Norcold fridge — Norway / China supply chain. Dometic — Swedish parent, global manufacture. Suburban water heater — actually still American. Furrion — China.
The slide-out mechanisms — Lippert is American-made, but components come from a global supply chain. Schwintek motors — China.
The frame — Lippert chassis, American-made steel, usually. The roof — TPO or fiberglass, mixed origin. The electronics — global.
Most rigs are American-assembled. None are fully American-built. That's not unpatriotic — it's just true. Comment which brand you thought was more American than it is. Happy Fourth.
