Propane Regulator — The 5-Minute Test
Your propane regulator fails silently. Wrong pressure, your fridge, furnace, water heater all degrade. Five-dollar gauge tests it in five minutes.
Manometer or low-pressure gauge. Threads into the test port on your regulator — that's the little plug right here. Five dollars at any RV parts store.
Open the test port, thread in the gauge, turn on a propane appliance — your stove burner is easiest. Reading should be eleven inches water column. Eleven. If it's lower than ten or higher than thirteen — your regulator's failing.
This is mine. Right at eleven. Healthy.
Regulators last five to ten years. Mine's six years old. Tested fine. If you've never tested yours and you've had it more than five years — do this today.
Comment if you've had a regulator fail and not noticed for months. I want to know how common this is.
