Three Different Leaks, Three Different Locations

Leak one — slide topper failure. Water dripped over the slide top, ran down inside the wall cavity, soaked the carpet. Six months of ownership.

Leak two — front cap roof seam. Same period. Different cause. Sealant cracked from sun exposure on a brand-new rig. Water came through above the bedroom slide.

Leak three — slide-out floor seal. Water came in during a heavy rain because the bottom seal was misaligned at the factory. Pooled under the slide carpet.

Three leaks. One year. Three different root causes. Same rig. This is the pattern almost every RV owner experiences. Not one leak — multiple. The rig isn't sealed. It's a leaky house on wheels with caulk in eight places that all wear out at different rates.

Inspect quarterly. Walk the roof. Check the seals. Look for stains on the wall. Don't wait for water on the floor — by then it's been wet for weeks.
